This guitar was designed with and for Eric Deaton, a Hill Country Blues musician based in Oxford, Mississippi. He learned from the best, including Junior Kimbrough and R.L Burnside. The man has soul for days.
Eric was one of my teachers at the Down 2 The Crossroads Guitar Camp in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He helped me record the song Easy to Love, Easy to Leave. He also taught me a lot about groove and playing in open tunings.
This guitar is has one .56 monster E powering to some grimy dirty tunes. Eric wanted something that only had one string and no frets. I worked with the fine folks at Shaper Tools to do a custom sound hole in the shape of the State of Mississippi.
I used a lengthwise mini-humbucker to give this guitar a really powerful tone. I love this guitar because it sounds haunted to me (see video below). I can't wait to hear the amazing music that Eric comes up with on his soulbox.
